Mimi loves the macabre. We have a bit of an evening story telling. Under candle light, we read Halloween tales. Our thought process is that Mim will like reading if it is scary and ghoulish. The mim thought in general doesn't like the written word unless it is. not written. I have a bunch of books from when Jiej and I were little. "Georgie" doesn't quite cut it. Mimi does love "Big Pumpkin" which was one of Jiej's faves.
A little over a week ago, Mimi and I went to an apple orchard/ pumpkin patch/ haunted house.
The weather was unseasonably warm and I had already taken Mimi to a local antique barn to seek some treasure, so I felt that a full wristband of fall frolic was due.
Mimi had assured me that she was ready for the full haunting activities, so we started with the haunted house.
The haunted house was the most basic(considering the kid goes through the haunted mansion at Disney(at night, during Halloween).
This chicken coop, black lighted, spray painted spectacle scared her tiny pants off.
Next, we visited a petting zoo, pumped water, jumped off of hay bales, rode a train and ponies and visited this strange little band of scarecrows.
The music they were playing captivated me.I found out it was Johnny Otis, who was responsible for the hand jive.
We drank a bunch of cider, ate donuts fresh from the fryer and basked in the glow of Johnny Otis.
Mimi has recently announced that she wants to take lessons.
She doesn't want lessons in gymnastics, ballet or piano.
Nope. Mimi wants lessons in the couscous guitar.
Perhaps she will be in a band like these little girls.
I was confronted with the task of sending a picture of Mimi,Terry ,Paulina and I to school for a Thanksgiving celebration.
Not one photo, not one could I find with all of us intact.
In a panic.I used an application called shape collage(thank you and babies make four .I found that I could incorporate our family without us all being together. I am not schooled in photo shop.
I found this video on one of my favorite blogs Minor Details This blogger is an interior designer of children's spaces. She has a studio in NYC and I love her aesthetic and her wicked sense of humor.
