Year Of Happiness
We were invited by dear friends to make a Chinese New Year Dragon at Pewabic Pottery.
We had a great time. We also dined at Shangri La , a downtown Chinese restaurant that has fabulous Chinese dishes.

Puttin On The Ritz
This past Friday was Daddy Daughter dance.
This year's theme was "Project Runway" so the girls were invited to design their own finery and strut down the runway.
Mimi has no problem with designing her own duds, but the runway part was not in her plan.
She came up with some ideas, requested some fabric and then asked for the sewing machine to put her gown together.
I thought for a few moments about the Hello Kitty sewing machine down in the basement that we have yet to use. I thought a moment about threading a bobbin or wefting a sheath or those things that really talented people do and then I suggested duct tape.
I went to you tube, where people like me learn to to do everything and looked for duct tape how tos.
Well, let me tell you, there is couture in duct tape, for men's and women's fashions.
Mimi immediately rejected my duct tape suggestions.
I looked back at the pictures of Mimi, sculpting dresses out of bubble wrap and paper.
It's all different now, Mimi would have to think about exposing your unders.
I then thought back to a Mimi purchase. She saved her allowance money for a swank skirt and strapless number that we had seen on this lovely blog.
So she expressed her fashion sense with her pre made outfit. with a tiny bow tied on the top for good measure, her tiny heels from aunt Teresa's wedding and a faux fur from Zara.
Terry wore a tuxedo shirt(value village) from 1962, skinny black pants and a rabbit skin hat. He bottomed it all off with some vintage high top converse from his junior high days.
"As they say in fashion, one day you are in and the next you are out." ( A perfect message for grade school girls).
