Sleep Warm In Your Fur

Every time Mary sees me blogging she wants to know why I haven't changed the name of the blog to suit her formal name change.

In my first installment of my salute to children's books, I am officially changing the blog name to match my tumblr blog name.

Sleep warm in your fur is a line from one of JieJie and Mary's favorite books called"The Little Fur Family"
It was written by Margaret Wise Brown of "Goodnight Moon" fame. It was brilliantly illustrated by Garth Williams(Charlotte's Web and Laura Ingalls Wilder" Little House "series).

This book is about a family of fur creatures.(we really don't know what they are). The main focus is the littlest fur creature and his adventures . The story ends up with being sung to and snuggling.

The language of the book is very rhythmic and sing songy and the girls have always loved it and its testament to the virtues of being warm as toast and smaller than most.

A Dream Lives On Forever

Yes, tiresome as it may be, I dream of having chickens.
Mary is incubating chicks in her classroom and she treated us to chicken trivia at the dinner table last night.
She even stated that she didn't want to eat chickens anymore.

Much to my husband's and neighbors chagrin. Some clever people have developed a chicken coop for even the tiniest of city apartments.

With its ultra chic design, ecological structure that repels bacteria and odors naturally, it is the perfect haven for urban chickens.

Mary and JieJie would be in heaven, the rest of the street, not so much.
